A new call for renewable energy communities (CERs)
Encourage the adoption of new social innovation approaches to tackle energy poverty. This is the main objective of a new 10 million euro tender from the European Social Fund+, the main financial instrument with which the European Union supports employment in the Member States and promotes economic and social cohesion.
Specifically, the tender, entitled “Social innovations for a fair green and digital transition” (ESF-2022-SOC-INNOV), aims to encourage concrete actions capable of combating energy poverty and promoting models of renewable energy communities established from below.
As previously mentioned, with a total budget of 10 million euros, the measure finances projects that aim to promote the inclusiveness and fairness of the green and digital transition in contexts such as schools, training centres, businesses and local communities .
The activities that can be financed by the call include, for example, actions to increase awareness and acceptance of the green transition, support the diffusion and use of new green technologies or digital technologies, the creation and improvement of networks for the exchange of good practices, development and testing of integrated approaches to support and accelerate the shift towards greater energy sustainability.
To be admitted, projects must test and/or encourage new tools or alternative models of energy p roduction, distribution and consumption (such as wpml_nbsp self-consumption) or other business models based on the renewable energy community (CER).
The Commission expects to finance between fifteen and a maximum of twenty projects. The Commission reserves the right not to allocate all available funds or to redistribute themdepending on the proposals received and the results of the evaluation.
The beneficiaries of the call are public or private entities with legal personality, non-profit organizations, third sector entities. public authorities, research institutes, universities and private companies.
