The “EUSATFINDER” R&D project, funded under the European Union’s Horizon Europe program, aims to demonstrate the effectiveness of the synergistic use of three major European space programs—GOVSATCOM, Copernicus, and Galileo—in critical situations. Three GOVSATCOM resources will be utilized: ATHENA FIDUS Italiana, the French payload, and Eutelsat’s VHTS Konnect. The interface with the GOVSATCOM HUB will also be studied so that stakeholders can benefit from a shared pool of SATCOM resources (capacity and services) to manage crisis situations. The aim of EUSATfinder is to provide an innovative, integrated, and scalable solution to support first responders in real-world scenarios during various operational phases and to improve citizens’ well-being. In particular, during the tactical phase, EUSATfinder aims to enhance response capabilities and reduce response times by leveraging capabilities shared across various government and private satellite systems that are interoperable with terrestrial communication services. The objectives outlined above give the EUSATfinder project a global scope, involving European public authorities, industries, and research centers with the clear role of contributing innovation and expertise to enable effective management of crisis areas in emergency situations worldwide.
