An innovation set to revolutionize the sustainable mobility sector: following the collaboration agreement between RHAPIS and Sistematica S.p.A., Nexair S.r.l. was founded in February 2025. This innovative startup was created with the goal of developing a prototype of a patented device capable of capturing all pollutants emitted by combustion engines, including carbon dioxide, without post-combustion processes or chemical additives.
The system, which can be applied to existing engines, promises truly zero emissions. It is not a new engine, but an integrable technology that transforms the vehicle’s operation into a closed-loop system, where exhaust gases are redirected back into the engine without passing through a traditional exhaust pipe.
After six years of research, the patent has been registered in Italy, Europe, the United States, and Saudi Arabia, with extensions underway in China, India, Japan, and Russia. A working prototype already exists, while industrial production is set to begin in 2025 in Terni, the core of the industrialization project.
“It’s brand new,” said one of the founders during the interview. “We’ve finalized the agreement with Sistematica to start production. This device is the first of its kind in the world.”
With this technology, Nexair aims to become a global reference point in the fight against pollution, offering a concrete solution that can be immediately applied to the existing vehicle fleet.
