What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that sites visited by users send to their terminals, generally located on the
browser directory, where they are stored and then transmitted back to the same sites on the next visit. These allow those who run the
Web site to do useful things, for example, improve the browsing experience and operation of the site, making interactions more
fast and personalized, allow the operator of a site to know whether a computer (and probably the relevant user) has visited the Web site previously, or to store items in the shopping cart, in the case of an e-commerce site.
The cookie is not personal in nature per se, but it could be linked to personal information, in the latter case need
therefore consent to use.
Types of cookies by purpose
– Technical cookies: are those used for the sole purpose of “carrying out the transmission of a communication over a communication network
electronically or to the extent strictly necessary for the provider of an information society service explicitly requested
by the subscriber or user to provide such service” (see Article 122, paragraph 1, of the Code). They are not used for additional purposes and
are normally installed directly by the owner or operator of the website. They can be divided into:
– cookie di navigazione o di sessione, che garantiscono la normale navigazione e fruizione del sito web, non vengono memorizzati in
persistently on the user’s computer and vanish when the browser is closed (allowing, for example, a
purchase or authenticate to access restricted areas);
analytics cookies, assimilated to technical cookies where used directly by the operator of the site to collect information, in aggregate form
, on the number of users and how they visit the site itself;
functionality cookies, which allow the user to navigate according to a set of selected criteria (e.g., language,
products selected for purchase) in order to improve the service rendered to the same.
Users’ prior consent is not required for the installation of such cookies.
– Profiling cookies: these are aimed at creating profiles related to the user and are used in order to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the same in the context of web browsing. Due to the particular invasiveness that such
devices can have within the private sphere of users, European and Italian regulations provide that the user must be adequately informed about their use and thus express his/her valid consent.
– advertising: these are the cookies used to track the user’s navigation on the web and create profiles on his tastes, habits, choices, etc.
With these cookies, advertising messages can be transmitted to the user’s terminal in line with the preferences already manifested
by the same user in online navigation.
behavioral: these are the cookies used to collect data on browsing habits and preferences, carrying out profiling
and/or personalization for the purpose of carrying out market research or distance selling.
The users’ prior consent is required for the installation of these cookies.
Types of cookies according to the parties involved
Cookies from the site operator: if the cookies are installed by the site owner.
Third-party cookies: if the cookies are installed by parties other than the site owner, perhaps through banners on the site.

Third-party cookies are generally not essential for browsing; you can reject them by default through special features in your

Do Not Track Option
The Do Not Track option is present in most browsers. Websites designed to comply with this option, when
is turned on, should automatically stop collecting some of your browsing data.
